New Launch: Stage 5 Emission Compliant pumpsets for European mines and mining contractors

DXB Pump & Power, the UK’s newest pump manufacturer, launched its new Stage 5 emission compliant range of pumps for use in European Mines and mining contractors throughout the EU. The pumpsets have been designed with German Deutz engines below 250kw and Scania 13 litre and 16 litre engines all with Stage 5 aftertreatment and housed in environmental, sound attenuated and fully bunded canopies to ensure they meet the strictest emission laws on the Continent. Designed in house and manufactured in the UK only using premium components from leading manufacturers, the DXB Pump range of pumps starts at 18kw for their high flow 100mm and 150mm low head pumpsets right up to the 475kw Scania powered 8X6 pumpsets capable of flows in excess of 750m3/hr and heads of more than 200m. Available in ten sizes all with integrated fuel tanks, single or four point internal lifting frames, and then available as skids, hooklifts, and trailers. All of DXB pumps use the worlds leading self-priming REDIPRIME pump from Cornell in the USA, the recognised leader in the types of pumps used in major mines all over the planet. Simon Ruffles, Owner and Managing Director of DXB Pump & Power, said… “The DXB Pump product range is the largest range of dry prime pump range of any manufacturer in the World, with over 70 models of pumpsets available for various applications throughout the World. With our unique modular design programme we can offer a high pressure dewatering pump, a high flow dewatering pump, a slurry pump and finally a CD4MCu Duplex stainless steel pump in every single Stage 5 pumpset without having to change any other component such as the engine or control systems- this is unique in the mining world today and will reduce the spares, maintenance, and downtime of pumps on any mine.” Combining Cornell pumps from the US market leading manufacturer and the skills that DXB Pump have learnt over the last twenty years, the company has designed and now manufacture a comprehensive range of pumpsets. Which are able to dewater mines in hostile locations such as the Arctic Circle mines seen in Scandinavia and Canada, where some of the features included in the DXB pumpset like satellite telemetry enable their customers to remotely monitor the pumpsets from the comfort of the office or cab of the loader as well as the DXB offices in the UK. Simon Ruffles continued… “Minimising downtime on our customers mines is business critical for us and we have designed these pumpsets for them to know about issues before they actually happen. With the use of telemetry technology, our customers and us can monitor all aspects of the engine and pump operation including the flow, pressures and suction characteristics of the pump end in addition to the welfare of the engine. This is critical to ensure that service and maintenance is undertaken in an appropriate time but also minimises downtime due to the unexpected.” Outside of the EU mining markets, DXB Pump through the major procurement houses in Europe won a £1.2m contract to supply mine dewatering pumpsets to a major international mine in Africa. The project was a major challenge to DXB as the delivery date agreed with the client was twelve weeks. With engines from Caterpillar specified and the Pretoria factory already working flat out, DXB Pump and Power contacted a number of CAT dealers around the world and sourced suitable CAT C15ACERT 375kw engines which required airfreighting to the company. Rescheduling their production programme, DXB Pump and Power brought the twelve portable 500m3/hr pumpsets straight into production with extensive additional design work being undertaken in house to complete the features that the mine requested and ordered including fast fuelling systems, suction booms and trailer configuration as well as full safety lighting on the pumpsets as well. Within a week all the design work had been completed and orders issued for a dozen 6mm steel box section fuel tanks with 1000 litre capacity ensuring that the company to begin building the pumpsets within the following four weeks to ensure on time delivery.

Stage 5 emission compliant pumpsets to hire

DXB Pump owners launch a new specialist rehire company, DXB Integrate, to supply a brand new range of Stage 5 emission compliant and electric portable pumpsets to rehire partner The owners of DXB Pump & Power, the UK’s newest pump manufacturing business is launching its new specialist pump hire company with a focus on rehiring the company’s brand new Stage 5 emission compliant range of pumps to the European pump hire markets. Designed around ten sizes of pumpsets, all of which are sound attenuated and fully bunded, the entire range of Deutz, Scania and Caterpillar powered pumpsets will offer 18.5kw to 750kw powered pumps capable of pumping high pressures, high flows and slurries all using the Cornell range of Rediprime pumps from 50mm through to 600mm in size. The vast proportion of the new range of pumps from 18.5kw to 225kw will be powered by seven new Deutz engines from the 2.2 litre normally aspirated engine through to the TCD7.8L6 six cylinder 225kw engine which powers some of the most powerful high pressure pumps available from DXB. The new range is extended out by Scania engines from Sweden that are supplying DXB Pump with the 300kw 13 litre and finally the 400kw 16 litre engines for some of the companies new large flow pumps such as the recently launched 300mm and 450mm pumpset capable of flows of over 2800m3/hr, well beyond the performance of any other rental company fleet in the UK. Finally, DXB Integrate will fleet some highly specialised pumpsets with the CAT C18 and C27 engines again in Stage 5 emission compliance for high pressure applications such as the new DXB DE700/160 and DE1000/150 which is a new 8X6 and 10×8 pumps from DXB Pump that outperforms all other single stage high pressure portable pump from a UK supplier complete with the 560kw and 700kw Caterpillar engines, all mounted in a sound attenuated package complete with spark arrestor and air shutdown valves from its UK supplier. Commenting on the launch of the new company, Simon Ruffles, Managing Director of DXB Integrate said, “There is a large demand for a specialist pump hire company that can offer high pressure and high flow solutions to larger partners around Europe that already offer an integrated rental solution to end users, but perhaps are missing some specialist pumpsets. We plan to fill that niche for them.” He continued, “Our business strategy is not to work with end users but with pump and plant hire companies that already operate in the market such as petrochemicals, oil and mining but need to have access occasionally to more specialist equipment without the fear of their supplier going direct. With only one location and a small team, we do not have the capability to serve the UK end-user market never mind the whole of the EU, so we will work with exclusive partners in each country to supply them with the specialist pumps they need whether it is a low head 300mm Stage 5 Warrior sewage bypass pump for a city in Sweden, or a 500kw high pressure 10X8 unit for a refinery in Rouen, France.” Many of the new DXB Integrate rehire partners have bought into the philosophy and already ordered smaller 150mm and 200mm Warrior pumpsets that utilise the market leading Cornell sewage pumps with high efficiency rag-cutting impellers from DXB Pump & Power, the manufacturing arm of the group. This then allows them to rehire from DXB Integrate those larger higher flow and higher head pumpsets when they require them for bigger projects in their own markets without any fear of revenue leakage from other suppliers that already operate directly in their domestic market, this is especially the case in the UK. DXB Integrate has hired Kieran Gagg as its General Manager of the business which will be located in the Midlands some 200km away from the manufacturing plant in Suffolk, England. Kieran brings with him over twenty years of pump hire experience with some of the largest names in the market and has already implemented two other international rental roll out programmes over his career making him and perfect GM and shareholder partner in the company. He commented “The strategy was written many years ago when Simon and I worked together before and we always believed there was a large demand for a specialist, highly focused pump hire company, that had no interest in a multiple depot strategy or standard pumps used in day to day applications. We also knew there were many industrial equipment hire companies that worked on refineries or complex end user locations without the specialist pumpsets, so by opening DXB Integrate, we will work in partnership with those equipment hire companies and support them in the background with specialist pumpsets, accessories and technical solutions.”

New Launch: Stage 5 emission compliant highflow pumpsets for European rental markets

Following an order from the Number 1 pump hire company in Sweden. UK based, European pump manufacturer, DXB Pump & Power is launching its new high flow 300mm (12”) Stage 5 emission compliant engine, sound attenuated portable pumpsets to fulfil the recent order for units from its new partner and number specialist pump hire company in Sweden, Svensk Forbipumpning AB. Powered by the very latest Stage 5 engines from Scania, the 300kw specially designed pumpset will offer flow rates higher than 1600m3/hr (445l/sec) and heads up to 60m whilst still being the quietest and most environmental 300mm pumpset to enter the European market with the lowest CO2 and particle levels of any European pump manufacturer. Designed and manufactured in only 14 weeks, the pumpsets incorporates 21st century features such as satellite telemetry and sophisticated engine management allowing its owners and future renters to not only know its exact location but also details such as the current flowrates, fuel burn and even the exact times that oils should be changed or other preventative maintenance should be done in order to keep it at its most efficient. Robert Garnham, Chief Engineer at DXB Pump & Power and lead engineer on the design of the high flow range of pumps commented… “There have been over 500 hours of design time in developing the new s1400/50SAP pumpsets for the order from Svensk Forbipumpning and we are delighted with the outcome of a major collaborative approach we took with our manufacturing partners, Cornell Pump and Scania Great Britain. Using the DC13 Stage 5 13 litre engine from Scania enabled DXB Pump to design into the pumpset some features that make some major positive impacts on these pumpsets operating in a European rental fleet or the USA. These include the fact that the pumpset comes as standard with four-point integral lifting capability, in-line suction, and discharge and still able to fit inside a standard ISO container allowing for inexpensive international shipment, something no other pump manufacturer has done”. Garnham continued, “our customer placed some really strict requirements on the overall design of the pumpset including the need to minimise his shipping costs between projects being one of the easiest to achieve. The more complicated was achieving less than 75 decibels of noise at full speed allowing the pumpsets to undertake major bypass projects in large cities such as Copenhagen, Malmo, and Stockholm where incredibly strict environmental laws now ban any pumps under Stage 5 from the location.” In order to maximise the utilisation of the pumpsets in Svensk Forbipumpning fleet, DXB Pump designed other features into the pumpset with the strict budget of the buyer including ATEX certified spark arrestors which allow the pump hire company to use these pumpsets in the refineries and tank farms that are dotted around Denmark and Sweden as well. Kurt Bjørn Nielsen, Managing Director and owner of both Svensk Forbpumpning AB and Dansk Overpumpning AS in Denmark has been fleeting DXB Pump 200mm pumps for the last year and needed some larger pumpsets for upcoming projects in Sweden. He commented “We have been pleased with the service and products that DXB Pump have designed for us with the 200mm pumpsets but our customers required more flow and better emission compliance especially in the cities like Stockholm and Goteborg. We sat down with the team at DXB Pumps and agreed a plan of design that required Stage 5 engines and high flows but no louder than 75dB(A) at 7m which would make them the quietest in Scandinavia.”
